fishing

With its rich mix of aquatic habitats, the St. Lawrence River is a true angler’s paradise — home to an incredible variety of warm water fish and some of the best Bass fishing in the province.

At the Paul Gill Memorial Fishing Derby, we’ll be fishing for all in-season species (except Carp) — but especially for Paul’s favourite catch: Bass! 🐟

This event is about more than casting lines — it’s about celebrating the joy Paul found on the water. We hope you’ll feel that same excitement, connection, and love for the sport as you join us in honouring his legacy.

ABOUT (Uncle) Paul Gill

Paul Stewart Gill, born and raised in Brockville Ontario, Paul was deeply devoted to his beloved wife, Glenna, and their four sons (Randy, Ryan, Rob and Reilly). His life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, care, and dedication to his family and the entire community.

Paul's gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his family and community have left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered as a pillar of strength, love, and compassion.  He will also be remembered as the person who so many people would say they were inspired to fish because of him.  We hope that this derby will inspire the next generation to carry on Paul’s passion for fishing, the love of the outdoors and his love for all people.

Paul (Dad), you may have cast your final line on this earth, but the ripples of your love, kindness, and wisdom continue to touch us all. You taught us to fish for the joys in life, to reel in our dreams, and to release our fears.

“The true measure of a man is how he treats
those who can do nothing for him.”

Our husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather lived this every day.

P.S. – Hey kids; don’t be like Uncle Paul and not learn how to swim. :)
