Beyond The Game: Mentoriship. Education. Sports

We’re launching a mentorship initiative in Durham Region that uses sport to help young people build leadership skills, confidence, and strong friendships. The program will focus on youth in seven priority neighbourhoods, offering mentorship, educational support, and fun athletic opportunities. High school students will get the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed in both sports and school, while younger kids will enjoy structured play and caring mentors to help them grow. By investing in youth at every stage, we’re helping them prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
About The Program
An exciting new mentorship and soccer program is coming to schools in Durham Region’s seven priority neighbourhoods. Each week for four weeks, students ages 6–12 enjoy a 1.5-hour session with 45 minutes of fun soccer and 45 minutes of life skills, led by caring and professional coaches.
Schools can sign up a group of up to 40 students, and can also invite the team in for a school assembly to introduce the program and get everyone excited to join.
About The Program
This exciting program doesn’t just support young athletes; it also shapes future leaders. Ten high school athletes from Durham Region’s priority neighbourhoods will be carefully chosen through school board partnerships. These students come from different sports backgrounds and show great promise but need extra guidance to thrive academically and athletically.
By providing them with strong mentorship and support, this program offers a pathway to success—not just in sports, but in life. These young leaders will gain confidence, skills, and the direction they need to overcome challenges and unlock their full potential, transforming their futures in meaningful ways.
