Dimes 4 Time
By Snap Oshawa
Students from across Durham Region showed yet again, how much they care about helping those less fortunate then themselves by participating in the Dimes 4 Time fundraising campaign. The initiative sees students from Durham area elementary schools collecting change within their classrooms where it is then donated to Their Opportunity programming – helping to put more kids in sport and recreation. Each school participating in the campaign then gets to send a representative class to the Dimes 4 Time Assembly which took place this past February 28, at the Durham College/UOIT Health and Wellness Centre in Oshawa. At the assembly, students not only learned about the importance of giving back to their communities, but also had opportunities to take part in a number of sport related activities including floor hockey, basketball and football. NHL Alumni Rob Pearson and Canadian Olympian Donna Clarke were also in attendance.
